Early detection examinations for babies and children
When a baby is born, the mother receives a yellow booklet from the midwife or the paediatrician. This booklet describes when parents should have their child examined by a doctor. The doctor carefully examines the child at each of these appointments. This is to recognize and treat diseases early. The doctor also tells the parents how their child can stay healthy. The early detection examinations are paid for by the health insurance company. A child will have 10 examinations before he or she turns 6. If the child gets sick in the meantime, the parents must go to a paediatrician immediately.
